The kids just love these!  Tour the city and see the Washington Monument, Mount Vernon and more.  Then drive into the harbor and float past the USS Constellation.  The Captain tells lots of fun and informative stories.  A favorite for the younger kids is the duck whistles that are given to each person.
FAMILY FRIENDLY PROS-  Kids were amazed at the "car" becoming a boat as we drove into the water.  The duck whistles were very popular and kept them happy for a long time.
FAMILY FRIENDLY CONS-  Make sure little ones use the restroom before leaving on the tour.

COLUMBIA-  PLAYWISE KIDS
6570 Dobbin Rd, Columbia    410.772.1540

www.playwisekids.com
COST:  $8.95 (age 2 - 10 yrs) / $5.95 (12 - 23 mos) / $3 (age 11+)
HOURS:  Mon - Fri 9:30a - 5p, Sat 9:30a - 7p, Sun 11:30a - 6p
Great fun for little ones.  Playwise Kids is a large building with different areas set aside for activities.  Some areas include arts & crafts, dress-up areas, toddler play area, child size grocery store and soft block room.
FAMILY FRIENDLY PROS-  Lots of fun things for younger children.  The whole place is just for them!
FAMILY FRIENDLY CONS-  Older children seem to be bored quickly.  Also, it seems that it could have been kept neater.  The areas were messy and did not seem to be straightened throughout the day.  This probably varies day to day depending on staff and the amount of visitors.

Family Friendly Travel Tip:
Older children can use time in the car or airplane to learn a new craft.  There are some great books about learning to knit, crochet and cross-stitch.  Your child will be occupied and have a sense of accomplishment when they have completed a project by the end of the journey.
